I am very excited to be teaching this class and am looking forward to getting to know each of you over the course of the semester. The purpose of this collaborative blog is two-fold:
1) It provides students with an opportunity to reflect on the readings and bring them into conversation with their own experience, current events, and pop culture.
2) It gives us the opportunity to learn from each other while fostering a sense of community.
I envision this blog as a space to further discussion and debate around course ideas, and encourage you to respond to classmates' posts to express your support/disagreement/viewpoint/etc. However, in order for this blog to work, it is critical that we all remain respectful of each other's unique perspectives and experiences and that we refrain from personally attacking or judging a poster or commenter.
