"Doing" vs. "Having"

There was a quote in our reading last night that stuck out to me. It said that gender is something we "do" and not something we "have". That's a really interesting point because gender is considered to be something that is granted to us based on our biological and physical features. I think what this means is that society chooses what we "do" based on what we "have". Men and women learn how to behave because of the roles they've learned from society. We are gendered through the eyes of our society and not our own.
