Media's contributation to more violence??? Why!!!

Valenti offers many points about violence and women. She brings up many interesting points of how violence is viewed as a normal part of women’s lives. For example, in the magazine advertisements viewed on the film “Killing us softly”, the images of violence is accepted and reinforced by men’s power on how the women are posing in the advertisement. The women pose in the advertisement with a passive and acceptance to the response to the violence of men. These images serve to reinforce the idea that women are asking for the violence. The false idea of men believing that violence is okay is portrayed in the media by the posing of women in ads as well as the dommer live sex performances. An interesting news cast on channel 7 caught my eye because it related to the violence issue. The news cast was about how in the city of Silver Lake was now performing the dommer sex act which is another factor that is contributing to the acceptance of violence. When I was younger I was not exposed to as much acceptance of violence. Yes, there was violence out there but the magazine ad tended to be more innocent and covered up the violence of women a little more. I grew up in a household where violence was not seen but other family members did commit violence against their wives. The other family members where violence was happening, the women were the blame for the violence and did not doing anything to stop it. In this century, advertisement of stopping the violence is everywhere therefore women are less submissive to their husbands. There are still some women out there that do not take action in stopping the violence but the majority of women are now taking a stand for their rights. Women are now encouraged to take action against violence but the media seems to contribute more each time to the fallacious idea that violence is acceptable to society. The dommer live sex performance, the pornography industries, and the magazines advertisement seem to get more intense as we advance in the technology industry. We need to educate the women in society about how violence should never be justified as well as violence must be stopped at the time it occurs. We us women should stand up and fight against violence.
