Yeah, here in the United States we may have some flaws, but they are small, nothing too bad. We live in a perfect world where everyone is equal, everyone is free, everyone is happy. I mean the happiest place on earth IS in the U.S.! We are great neighbors- helping other countries in need, especially when natural disasters occur. We don’t believe in human trafficking, or animal cruelty. We are simply the best or perfect or both.
Hold on. Let me get this straight. We don’t believe in human trafficking so we have laws that protect our human rights. That’s good, right. Yeah that’s good. We have laws against sexual slavery, still good. But if we outlaw things like sexual slavery in the U.S. why do we go out and support these things? Are we in reality hypocrite? We, along with some of our friends including Western Europe, Australia, and Japan, spent about 26.2 million dollars in sex transactions. According to Leuchtag, that is about 35,000 women working as sex slaves in Thailand. I find it unfortunate that we claim to be against human trafficking, yet so many women are being trafficked into prostitution for our pleasure. How can we be letting this happen? And it’s not your average minimum wage worker flying out to Thailand. It’s the men with money and power. Just because we do not allow it in our country does it make it okay to run off and break our values in other countries? Should the United States take action against those who partake in these encounters? I believe that it is everyone’s human duty to protect those in vulnerable positions, even if it just means not buying what they're selling.
