Women, Step It Up

Most of the important positions in politics are taken up by men, especially white. Rarely do you see women getting involved in important decisions, because they are mainly made up of men. Going off from Valenti’s point, “Because it’s really fucked up that laws affecting our lives, at the most personal levels, are being decided overwhelmingly by men.” I personally think that the reason why women have been kept overpowered and dominated is because the people who hold these high power and prestigious positions are men. Therefore, men keep the women of this country naïve and manipulated. The only way women can start to show a sign of activism and that they care about the future of other women, even of their future kids in the future generations is to join the movement, to become active in feminist decisions. As long as these men hold these powerful positions, the future of women will still be in hands of our greatest oppressor, men. Many women complain about being oppressed, they write journals, they write stories, they share their experiences with others, but the only way to stop this for good, or at least try is to actually take into considerations the many organizations out there. Certain organizations are set up for women, strictly to guide and help them be woman with attitude and determination, all it takes is to make the simple decision of wanting to get involved. Getting involved does not always mean to go straight to the politics field, but it can start by making small choices and start from zero and make our way up. I do not understand why men have made political decisions about women, when they are not even in our bodies, they do not physically go through the oppression that most women go through, and to leave such important decisions that change our lives drastically up to men to decide. Like always.
